Managed Security – Great Cyber Security Challenges Raising the Stakes for Customers and MSPs

It does not happen that often, but there are times when customers are driving demand of technology way before their managed security providers even raise the issue. The use of the Apple iPad in the world of enterprises was probably the last time that it happened on a bigger scale but this is bound to happen once again. And this time around, the stakes involved seem to be much bigger than simply requesting the corporate IT to make it possible for the iPad to work in an enterprise environment.

The Pressure is on the Customers to Handle the Cyber Risks
In the same way that banks are not able to avoid from getting robbed, the corporate also cannot stop the cyber attacks from taking place. It is sad but this has now become a fact of life, with corporations left with no choice but to come to grips and accept this new stark albeit nightmarish reality.
The past few years have seen such a dramatic increase in terms of discussions regarding security in the community of managed security providers. These discussions are what you can characterize as basic. This time around, the managed security providers must start raising the stakes and taking their managed security game to a whole new level. This year 2018 is expected to be yet another record year when it comes to cyber attacks, and managed security providers must be well prepared.

But, what makes 2018 different? The difference lies in the fact that it seems that the end user corporation is now finally ready to face their own challenges, and they are now aware of their responsibility to take cyber security as a more serious subject. It means that those companies that don’t have the capacity to deal with cyber risks on their own should decide to outsource the job to a managed security provider. Naturally, managed security providers must be prepared and have the willingness to meet these challenges.

Are Managed Security Providers Up for the Security Challenge?

It is safe to assume that managed security providers are now geared up to meet the challenges in cyber security that they will soon be seeing this 2018. The rank and file managed security providers that only have maintenance or performance managed services should start taking on the added responsibility to assist their customers in safeguarding data. It doesn’t necessarily mean that managed security providers must shoulder all the burdens alone.  Numerous best practices are available for the managed security providers to mitigate their own risks in the cyber world, and some of these are updated contracts, certification, and insurance.

Today’s managed security providers must be all geared up and prepared to revamp their own services and offers to meet the challenges in cyber security not only this year 2018 but also in the many years to come. Customers are surely going to wait for them in the hopes of getting the assistance and guidance they need to ensure their own cyber security.
